Cultural Club and Law & Literary Society of Faculty of Law organised a Debate Competition on the theme “Jagaana Desh Hai Apna” in the memory of Pulwama Martyrs on 14 th February, 2023 from 11:30 am in the Moot Court Hall, Faculty of Law. The competition was open to participation to the students of all the departments. The event was held in two parts i.e. Cultural Events and Debate Competition. The event started with the lightening of lamp and praising Maa Bharti with the showering of flowers by the Jury Members i.e. Prof (Dr.) D V Singh, Prof (Dr.) Sandeep kulshrestha and Prof D D Sharma. A Two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the Pulwama attack martyrs.

The event began with the Cultural part including poem recitation, group patriotic song and a speech by the students of Faculty of Law. In the second part, debate competition was held. the participants were informed about the rules of the competition and the marking structure. The students participated from various departments such as Faculty of Political Science, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, etc. The topics for the debate competition were “Is China an existential threat”, “AI commits Crime”, “Domestic Violence against Men”, “Social Justice and Reservation” and “Linking Terrorism to Religion”. All the debaters presented their points of arguments with confidence and refute the arguments of the opposition party with smartness. At last the judges announced the winners of the competition who were Kanak (1 st position, Faculty of Political Science), Rahul Sarola (2 nd position, Faculty of Engineering), Harmandeep Singh (3rd position, Faculty of Political Science). The event ended on motivational words delivered by the jury members and vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law. The event was attended by around 60 students from B.A.LL.B.(H), B.B.A.LL. B (H), LL.B.(H) programmes and all the faculty members from Faculty of Law.
